Chocolate and mint!

Week 188 on Less is More is a colour challenge using chocolate and mint. The hardest part of the challenge was finding a mint coloured ink. I finally settled on a metallic watercolour marker. I clear embossed the image before colouring it. Then I mounted the image on some dimensional foam and added some tiny brown pearls to the centre of the flowers to finish it off.

Materials used:-
Stamp -  Hero Arts Asian Frames
Sentiment - Chocolate Baroque Mackintosh Sentiments
Archival ink - Potting Soil
Letraset Metallic Marker - green
Die - Lawn Fawn Stitched Party Banners

Inspired by words!

Challenge #13 on Time Out is to use words for your inspiration. So here is my card inspired by the quotation from Twelfth Night, "If music be the food of love, play on". My emphasis was on love and music.

I stamped the music through a mask I made from copy paper as I didn't want harsh lines. The heart was embossed with white embossing powder and inked with distress ink. I put it on foam pads for extra dimension. I felt I managed to achieve the CAS look I was aiming for.

Materials used:-
Heart stamp - Chocolate Baroque "Music Fanfare" set
Sentiment - Chocolate Baroque "Mackintosh Sentiments"
Music stamp - Crafty Individuals
Distress ink - picked raspberry; Archival ink - watering can

Thanks for visiting my blog - I hope you pop over to Time Out and see how the words have inspired the other participants.

Noel card

When I was blog hopping recently I found another Christmas card challenge blog.  This is the first year I have made my Christmas cards throughout the year and I'm finding I can take more time over these instead of rushing to make them in November!

Challenge 38 on Festive Friday is to use black, kraft and white on your card. The cards produced by the Design Team were inspirational! My style tends to be CAS and I think this style suits the colours of the challenge.

Materials used:-
Noel stamp - Stampendous
Music stamp - Stamps Away "Music Background"
White embossing powder

Adapt a fingerprint!

Week 180 One Layer Card challenge at Less is More is entitled "adapt a fingerprint".  I found this difficult - usually I don't want any fingerprints on my cards! I decided to use a tree stamp and add fingerprint leaves using my little finger and distress inks. I clear embossed the stamping so that it didn't smudge when I added the distress ink.

Materials used:-
Tree and bird stamps - Marion Emberson Designs "build a tree" set
Sentiment - Marion Emberson Designs "birds and trees"
Distress inks - peeled paint, shabby shutters and crushed olive
Clear embossing powder

Thank you for visiting my blog and for leaving comments - I really appreciate these. Do pop over to LIM to see what fantastic cards have been created by the participants.

Turquoise

I am entering this card in the following challenges:-
Keep it Simple #43 - Turquoise
Addicted to CAS #42 - Code word SKY

To make the card, I clear embossed the snowflakes and then inked the card before ironing off the embossing to give a nice smooth background to do more stamping.  Finally I added the die cut snowflakes and mounted the panel on a glittered card.

Materials used:-
Uniko Studio Stunning Snowflake set - snowflakes and sentiment
Snowflake dies - Uniko Studio and Marianne Design Creatables "Swedish Ice Star"
Distress inks - tumbled glass and broken china

Thank you for visiting my blog - perhaps this card will inspire you to start making your Christmas cards early!

Three flowers

Here is another water coloured card - I stamped and embossed the images before colouring them with distress inks. The hardest part was cutting out the squares and mounting them to ensure they were equally spaced. Hope they are! I am going to enter this card in this week's challenge on Less is More which is Watercolour. There are so many great examples of this technique on the LIM blog so do pop over and have a look.

Materials used:-
Stamps - Hobby Art mixed flowers
Distress inks - broken china, picked raspberry and seedless preserves

LIM colour challenge

The challenge on Less is More this week is "The colours of your bedroom".  As my bedroom is painted cream I decided to use the colours of my bedding as the inspiration for my card.  I felt the card was quite plain so I added a border around the aperture.  My apologies for the photo which makes the card look much paler than it really is!

Materials used:-
Clarity Allium stamps and sentiment stamp
Antique linen distress ink
Colorbox cats eyes chalk inks - rose coral and rouge
Distress marker - shabby shutters
WOW opaque vanilla embossing powder
Nestabilities dies for the circles
