The Funkie Junkie Tag Challenge - week 4

This is my take on Linda's tag for week 4 which you can see here. I liked the way she stamped the sentiment on another piece of card so I have tried to replicate this. My tag is veering towards the clean and simple style which I like. I made the the little number embellishment using a Tim Holtz set.

LIM newsprint

This week's challenge on Less is More is to use newsprint in your card and this is my entry using a die cut poppy. I liked the contrast of the black against the vintage tone of the newsprint.

Materials used:-
Newsprint - Graphic 45 paper "Typography
Sentiment - Woodware
Poppy die - Tattered lace
Oval dies - Nestabilities

Thank you for visiting my blog - now pop over to LIM and see what the other participants have created. Margaret

Acrylic block stamping

I came across the blog "Just Add Ink" when I was blog hopping recently and liked their current challenge which is "Just add an acrylic block". I first came across this technique on an online course - you ink up an acrylic block and use it to stamp a background. It's a fun technique which can produce some interesting results. I thought this orange one was striking and had some texture.

Materials used:-
Distress inks - ripe persimmon and spiced marmalade
Black tuxedo memento ink
Flowers - Stamps Away "Pilkington Silhouette Flowers"
Sentiment - Stampin Up "So happy for you"

Butterfly thanks

I have been inspired to use vellum again after seeing some lovely designs on various blogs. I embossed the butterflies in white on vellum and then coloured them on the wrong side with distress markers. I attached the vellum to a panel which I stuck on the card base with dimensional foam.

I am entering this card into the following challenges:-
CAS on Sunday #44 "Emboss it"
Addicted to CAS #50 where the code word is VELLUM

Materials used:-
Butterfly stamp - Martha Stewart
Sentiment - SU Sassy Salutations
Distress markers - picked raspberry and salty ocean
Archival ink - cornflower blue (Wendy Vecci)
Pearls from stash

Spread sunshine

This week's theme at Less is More is "Little Creatures" - they can be cute, cuddly or creepy! This was quite a challenge for me as I don't have any Hallowe'en stamps so that ruled out "creepy"! Then I remembered this bee stamp and after that the card came together very quickly. I hope you like it.

Materials used:-
Bee stamp - cArt-us
Sentiment - Hero arts "Anytime Messages"
Mask - Crafter's Workshop "Balzer Designs"
Inks - DI wild honey and black archival (clear embossed)

Thank you for visiting my blog - now hop over to LIM and see the amazing variety of little creatures created by the other participants! Margaret

Peace on Earth

This week's challenge on Less is More is to make a one layer card with TWO items on it. I decided to use the lovely Uniko Studio "Peace on Earth" set for my card. I had difficulty deciding on my design and also whether I should colour the doves. After much deliberation, I clear embossed all the stamping and pierced around the card. I hope you like it.

Materials used:-
Uniko Studio "Peace on Earth" set
Archival ink - watering can (this is less stark than black)
Colorbox ink - mint
Stampin Up piercing kit

Thank you for visiting my blog - now pop over to LIM to see what the other participants have created. Margaret

Autumn leaves

The challenge for week 192 on Less is More is a colour challenge entitled Autumn's Bounty. I made this card using a lovely Clarity stamp set. I cannot claim to have been inspired by the changing leaves on the trees as there are very few trees in Shetland and the leaves never get the chance to change colour as they get blown off by the autumn gales!

I am also entering this card into the One Layer Simplicity Challenge #10 where the theme is Turning to Fall.

Materials used:-
Clarity stamps - Autumn Maple leaves set
Stamps away mask
Inkylicious ink duster
Various distress inks
Archival ink - potting soil

Many thanks for popping by - Margaret

Snowflake tag

I am going to enter this card in the Tag You're It Challenge which I discovered recently. I love this tag punch from Stampin Up and I have gone back to using vellum again having seen some lovely designs on blogland. I embossed the Merry Christmas sentiment on vellum which I placed on top of the card tag - its perhaps not that clear in the photo.

Materials used:-
SU tag punch
Vellum and white embossing powder
Distress ink - evergreen bough
Cuttlebug embossing folder - snowflakes
Penny Black Snowflake stamp - "giving and receiving"

Thanks for visiting - I really appreciate your comments! Margaret

The Funkie Junkie Tag 1

I was very disappointed when Tim Holtz changed the format of his tag challenge as I really enjoyed playing along with his 12 tags of Christmas Challenge.

I was delighted to find this challenge on The Funkie Junkie blog - Linda posts a tag for inspiration each week which participants use to create their own projects. This challenge is sponsored by Linda's shop The Funkie Junkie Boutique.

I decided it would be fun to make tags again and here is my first one. It is very different from my usual CAS style!  I used the Tim Holtz Holiday Knits stamp for my background although I feel it is a bit dark. I altered the colour of the bell with nail varnish as it was brass and didn't go with the colours of the tag. I saw this tip in this month's Craft Stamper.

Materials used:-
Background stamp - Tim Holtz Holiday Knits
Reindeer - Stampers Anonymous Season's Silhouettes
Sentiment - Chocolate Baroque
Pine Needles  and Santa - Hobby Arts "From our home to yours"
Bell from stash
Die - Nestabilities
Distress inks - stormy sky and evergreen bough
