Peaceful

The current challenge on Time Out is Peaceful.

This theme immediately made me think of yoga so here is the card I made. I stamped the lotus flower and then clear embossed this before painting it with water colours. To make the card more interesting I die cut the panel which I then mounted onto linen card.

Materials used:-

Lotus flower stamp - Casual Fridays 'mon ami' set
Sentiment - Penny Black 'love and yoga' set
Watercolours - Gansai Tambi Pearl Pink
Die - stitched indented rectangles by Elizabeth Craft Designs

Joy to the world

That's my first Christmas card made! I was delighted that the Less is More challenge for this week is to make a one layer card Christmas card as I like to start making my Christmas cards early. I am also going to enter this card into the CAS Christmas challenge where the theme is nativity.

I often use the masking technique to make one layer cards. For this design I made a circle mask from thin card and inked through the mask with distress inks to make the background. The stamps were inked and then clear embossed.

Materials used:-
Nativity stamp - Clarity stamps
Sentiment - Simply Cards and Papercraft Issue 142
Distress inks - Broken China and Shaded Lilac
Black ink - Versafine Onyx Black

Birthday tag card

Here is a card I made recently using a lovely Lawn Fawn die which I am going to enter into the Happy Little Stampers 'Anything Goes with Dies' challenge.

I cut 2 tags out - one from white card and the other from vellum. I used baker's twine to attach them and then put them on a linen card with dimensional foam. This was a very quick and easy card to make!

Materials used:-

Tag die - Lawn Fawn stitched party banners
Sentiment die - Stampin Up Well Said set
Vellum - Stampin Up Floral Romance set

Garden tag

Here is a card I made recently for my brother-in-law as he is keen on gardening. I like using die cut tags for cards as this makes a very easy card. I am going to enter this into the Happy Little Stampers Watercolour challenge which has the option of adding die cuts.

I stamped the tag with distress ink and used DI to colour the flower pots. Finally I added some string before attaching the tag with dimensional foam.

Materials used:-

Die - Lawn Fawn detailed party banners
Stamps - Stampendous background stamp
Flower pots - Sheena Douglass Homegrown Stamp set
Sentiment - Stampin Up Sassy Salutations

Xmas scene

I am delighted to get back to my blog as I've been busy doing other things over the past year and haven't had time for much crafting. I've now made a start on my Xmas cards and was delighted to find this CAS Christmas challenge.

I used brushos to create the background for my card - I love the vibrant colours you get with these. I then created a winter scene using the die cuts. I mounted this onto panel onto linen card to create some dimension.

I am also linking this card to the Happy Little Stampers Christmas Challenge where the optional twist is "twinkle".

Thank you visiting my blog - I really appreciate your comments. Now pop over the see what the other participants have created for their Xmas cards. Margaret.

Materials used:-
Penny Black "Around Town" die set
Brushos and watercolour card for the background
Sentiment - Tim Holtz "Holiday Words" die
Lawn Fawn stitched hillside borders
Linen card

Winter scene

Kimberly has created this cute inspiration card for the current Muse Christmas Visions challenge.

I used a few elements of her design in my card including the snow, the trees and the figure substituting a deer for the little girl.  To complete my card  I mounted the panel using foam tape to provide some dimension.

Materials used:-

A stamp set called "Woodland Cottage" from the Papercraft Inspirations magazine Issue 143 (Oct 2015)
Inks - Versafine Onyx black and Distress inks broken china and peeled paint
Watercolours - Kuretake Gansai Tambi

I am also entering this card into the Happy Little Stampers July Christmas challenge.

Thank you for visiting my blog - I really appreciate your comments.  Why not pop over and look at what the other participants have created for this challenge?

Simply Watercolor

This week I have been having great fun taking part in an online class on water colouring run by Kristina Werner entitled Simply Watercolor.  Each day various techniques are demonstrated which you can then try out.  This class is different from other craft classes I have done in that no stamps are used.  Below are some of my attempts - I will keep practising as I do like the effect created with the watercolours.  I have done a number of these online card classes and really enjoyed them.
