Muse deer

I'm at the last minute with my entry for Muse Christmas Visions this week as I've been away at the St Magnus Festival in Orkney - enjoyed a great weekend of poetry, drama and music. This week's muse is Betty Wright who has created this striking card.  I was inspired by the white deer against the dark blue background and the stitching around the card. I used Brushos to create the background of my card and added a hill for my deer to stand on as I felt it needed to be grounded. I was pleased with the background as it looked a bit like the aurora borealis.

Materials used:-
Brushos and watercolour card
Archival ink - cobalt
Lawn Fawn stitched hillside borders and large stitched rectangle dies
Collage cutz deer set
Dienamics pierced rectangle die
Sentiment - Lakeland (very old!)

Thanks for visiting - now pop over to MCV7 and you may be inspired to start making your Christmas cards! Margaret

Nordic Noel

When I saw this week's theme on Merry Monday was red and white I immediately thought of Tim Holtz Holiday Knits stamp! I have kept my design clean and simple, scoring a couple of lines under the panels to add some definition.

Materials used:-
Stamp - Tim Holtz Holiday Knits
Noel die - Sizzix Tim Holtz Holiday Words script
Nestabilities - squares
Ink - Wendy Vecchi red geranium
Scrap glitter card for the word
Stampin Up scoring board

New home

This week's theme at Less is More is Home and it's the dreaded one layer challenge. When I see "one layer" I think of watercolouring and that's what I've done here.  I used watercolour card to make a 6x4 inch card.  I stamped the image and sentiment with Versafine ink and then used distress ink to colour this.

Materials used:-
Stamps - Creative Stamping magazine and Stampin Up Gorgeous Grunge
Distress inks - mustard seed, gathered twigs and broken China
Distress markers - barn door and pumice stone
Versafine black onyx ink

Thanks for visiting my blog - now pop over to LIM to see how the other participants have interpreted this challenge.

Noel wreath

Chriss Blagrave has created a lovely clean and simple card for this week's challenge on Muse Christmas Visions.  I really liked the simplicity of the design and the way the letters overlapped the image.  I tried to emulate this in my design but unfortunately didn't have a little bird stamp! I cut out the letters twice to provide some dimension to the card.

I am also going to enter this card into these challenges:-
Addicted to Stamps and More challenge 148 - holiday
abc Christmas Challenge where the challenge is the letter L for lyrics - The First Noel

Materials used:-
Stamp from Simply Homemade Magazine issue 48
Inks - StazOn forest green and fired brick distress marker (for the berries)
Letters cut using Cricut machine
Pearlised red card

Christmas card challenge

I'm on a roll with Christmas cards this week!  I'm going to enter this card into Merry Monday and 52 {Christmas} Card Throwdown challenges as they both feature tags this week. At 52cct we have to use the sketch (see below).  I liked this design and it was easy to make - always useful when making Christmas cards!

Materials used:-
Stampin Up tag punch
Music stamp - Stamps Away
Sentiment - Banana Frog Xmas Elegance
Deer stamp - freebie from Cardmaking and Papercraft magazine
Gingham ribbon from stash

Thanks for visiting my blog - I really appreciate your comments.  Margaret

White Christmas

Kimberly Wiener's beautiful card on Muse Christmas Visions this week really inspired me but it has taken me all week to make my card!  I liked the way Kimberly used die cuts to build up a scene on a circle background and tried to copy this. I have used these Penny Black dies before and really like them although they are fiddly to work with as they are tiny! I added a little bit of glitter card for the windows and sentiment just to give a touch of colour.

Materials used:-
Dies - Penny Black Around Town set and Frantic Stamper Hill with Pine Trees Edger
Nestabilities circle die
Sizzix Tim Holtz Thinlits Holiday Words Script
Glitter card and textured card from stash

Vintage CAS

The cue word on CASology this week is VINTAGE - for me this means cream and sepia with some stitching so this is what I did for my card.  I embossed the feather and sentiment and distressed the edges of the panel before stitching around it.  Unfortunately the light was bad when I took the photo so the card looks white rather than cream.

Materials used:-
Feather stamp - Hot off the Press
Script - Hero Arts old letter writing
Sentiment - Dawn Bibby
Archival sepia ink
Cream card
Tim Holtz distressing tool

Sunset

The colour challenge on Less is More this week is Sunset - we are being asked to "use the colours which this word brings to your mind."

I haven't been able to take part in LIM recently as I've been away on holiday so I'm delighted to be back. I created the background with Brushos - this was the first time I've used them and need to do more experimenting. However I do like the vibrant colours.  I cut a circle out of the panel and attached this with foam to give some dimension to the card.

Materials used:-
Brushos - various
Watercolour card
Versa fine ink - onyx black
Inkylicious boating stamps and essential grasses
Nestabilities circle die

Thanks for visiting - now pop over to LIM to see the great designs created by the designers and participants. Margaret

Muse Merry Christmas

I've been away on holiday and missed a few challenges so it's great to be back with this card inspired by Tracey McNeely's funky Christmas trees on Muse:Christmas Visions.  I really liked her design with the trees and hills but decided to make my card mainly white for a CAS look.  This is the first time I've used the Stampin Up trees set but I think they may feature again!

Materials used:
Stampin Up Festival of trees stamp and punch set
Stampin Up coastal cabana ink
Chocolate Baroque sentiment
Cuttlebug embossing folder
Lawn Fawn stitched hillside borders
